Once you are signed up for direct payment, your utility payment will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the due date of the billing for the amount due. Each quarter you will receive a statement showing the amount of the billing and the date it will be withdrawn from your account. No checks to write, no postage, no late fees. If you are interested, a Direct Payment Agreement Form needs to be completed and returned to the Clerk-Treasurers Office with a voided check. Forms are available online at www.kohlervillage.org/community/village-utilities/ or at Village Hall.

Trick or Treat
The Kohler Police Department wants trick-or-treating to be fun and safe for everyone. Once again Community Resource Officer Hocevar “Officer Matt” will be holding a Safe Trick-or-Treat Awareness Program in the school for the younger students. He will also be passing out trick-or-treat bags from the Police Department.
Trick-or Treat will be on October 31st from 5-7pm. Please look for the Patrol Officers, they will be handing out glow necklaces to any child that wants one. The glow necklaces will make the children more visible as they enjoy the night out. Have fun trick-or treating, be safe and enjoy our community.
Kohler Memorial Theater Parking
As we continue construction of the theater you will notice that the construction crews are parked in odd spots such as the north side of School St. west of the midblock crosswalk or at the bottom of Ravine Park. With school back in session this parking compromise was necessary so construction workers could access tools and parts as they continue to work on the theater. Please do not park in those areas and allow the construction crews access to the theater.
FROM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR BRETT EDGERLE
Leaf collection will start on or about September 30th and continue until December 6th. Leaves should be raked into the street along the curb in three-foot (3’) wide rows. No grass clippings, sticks, or other garden debris is allowed. The Public Works Department follows a schedule for leaf collection. Each week, the collection starts on the south end of the Village where the trees are more mature and produce more leaves. The route continues to the west and north sections of the Village. During the last part of October and early part of November we may only be able to get through the Village once a week due to the heavy leaf fall.
As a reminder, brush (tree branches) must be neatly piled in four-foot lengths. The maximum diameter is six inches. No brush with thorns will be picked up. Thorny material must be cut up and put in the cart with the green lid. Brush not complying will be tagged and not picked up.
On November 5th and 12th Special Yard Waste collections will be held. After the green Yard Waste Cart is full, yard waste may be put into additional containers for collection. Place these containers on the curb adjacent to the standard containers. No container shall weigh more than 50 pounds.
Residents looking for landscape mulch are encouraged to call the Public Works Department at 459-3881. Mulch will be delivered to your home for $10/Cubic Yard plus 5.5% tax. Deliveries will be on Fridays only.
Residents are encouraged to store their garbage receptacles in discrete locations. Ideally they should be stored in a garage. Other suitable areas include side/back yards, or any other area screened from public view. Please be reminded that all containers must be stored with the lids securely closed and away from any heat source (grill).
A reminder that building permits are required for new structures, additions, remodeling, accessory structures, pools, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, siding, roofing, fences, signs, and modifications over $1,000 in market value. Any questions about building permits and/or permit fees can be directed to Brett Edgerle at 459-3881 or email@example.com. Permit application forms are also available on our website – www.kohlervillage.org.
Please be mindful that when building or digging near your property line, it is the project owner’s responsibility to accurately locate and define the property line prior to construction.
Kohler Memorial Theater
The theater is being renovated with completion scheduled in late 2019. Please be aware of construction vehicles and material staging adjacent to the theater.
Potable Water Cross Connection Control (Backflow) Program
The Village of Kohler is required to execute a cross connection control (backflow preventer) program to eliminate potable water cross connections. Residential backflow preventers may be required on lawn irrigation systems, wet fire protection systems, hot water heating (boiler) systems, swimming pool fills, water features, etc. Backflow preventers may also be required if there is another water source on the site such as a well, pond, river, etc. Backflow preventers are the property of the water customer and the responsibility lies with the customer for annual testing and maintenance. The water customer must contract with a licensed tester to perform the required annual tests. Most local plumbers are certified to test backflow preventers.
The contractor hired to oversee Kohler’s backflow program is Aqua Backflow, a nationally-recognized firm located in Elgin, IL. Aqua Backflow can be reached at 847-742-2296 with any questions. Your Village of Kohler contact, Brett Edgerle, can be reached at 920-459-3881. All water customers will be contacted by Aqua Backflow at some point over the next year to perform a site survey. Inspectors will be surveying your property to be sure that your water systems are protected from existing or potential cross connections.
The Kohler Cross Connection Control Program is designed to safeguard public health. We ask for your cooperation with our program, its enforcement, and any requests for access or information that come from Aqua Backflow or Village staff.
