School is back in Session
Now that school is back in session, please remember to drive carefully on the streets around the school. The speed limit is 15 mph when children are present in the school zones. There is no stopping or standing of vehicles for the westbound traffic on School St., or on Church St. adjacent to the school. Also, for parents that drop children off in the morning do so close to the crosswalk so the students can be helped across the street. Students that are crossing in mid-block amongst the vehicles are harder to see and are not as safe. The safest location would be to drop students off on the north side by the canopy. Follow the aides’ directions for smooth traffic flow.
FROM DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS BRETT EDGERLE
WEST VI STREET PAVING
Street and Sewer Improvements in the West IV subdivision are complete. Thank you for your patience and courteous driving.
HIGHWAY PP PAVING
Road construction work on Highway PP between Highland Drive and Sheboygan Falls began on Monday, August 14th. The work includes new intersection geometry at Valley Road and a new asphalt road surface on Highway PP. Two road closures to note: Expect to see Valley Road at Highway PP and Ridgeway at Highway PP both to be temporarily closed. Highway PP will remain open, but it may be reduced to one lane, with alternating traffic flow. Please consider alternative routes during construction. The project is expected to take 1 month, weather dependent. For additional details call the Public Works Department at 459-3881.
HOLIDAY GARBAGE PICK-UP
When a holiday falls on a Monday, all garbage pick-ups will be one day later than scheduled. For example, Labor Day falls on Monday, September 4th; therefore garbage pick-up for that week will be on Wednesday, September 6th.
As a reminder, brush (tree branches) must be neatly piled in four-foot lengths. The maximum diameter is six inches. No brush with thorns will be picked up. Thorny material must be cut up and put in the cart with the green lid. Brush not complying will be tagged and not picked up. Do not rake leaves and debris into the street. Curbside leaf collection is in the fall only.
Residents looking for landscape mulch are encouraged to call the Public Works Department at 459-3881. Mulch will be delivered to your home for $10/Cubic Yard. Deliveries will be on Fridays only.
FIRE HYDRANT FLUSHING AND WATER VALVE EXERCISING
During the months of August and September, the Village Public Works Department will be exercising water valves. The Department will also be performing maintenance on fire hydrants and flushing the mains. The work will be performed Monday through Thursday. Residents should be aware that there will be periods of cloudy and discolored water as sediment and mineral deposits in the water mains are disturbed.
