The Village of Kohler has experienced three power outages in the last four months. The most recent one occurred October 13 around 12:15 a.m. and lasted for about 90 minutes to two hours.
The outage was mostly in the south side, and everything north of Greenfield Drive, with the exception of Woodland Road. Kohler Co. was spared, as was the school. (The last outage caused flooding in the school basement when a pump failed, leading to $2,500 in damages. A new monitoring system was installed to prevent future flooding, but DPW Director Brett Edgerle said he went to the school during this latest outage “in belts and suspenders” to double-check.
Edgerle said he contacted Alliant and they said they have reliability projects in queue – one this year, one next spring at the latest. Brett is going to meet with Alliant later this month to discuss the issue. Alliant has not said what is causing the outages.
