Theater for Young Audiences closes out the celebration of its 30th season by mounting the fully-staged production of Pinkalicious the Musical in the John Michael Kohler Arts Center Matrix.
TYA’s production is based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann. The story surrounds Pinkalicious, who can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe – a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast.
As the story unfolds, the hue of Pinkalicius goes too far, and only she can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament. Pinkalicious the Musical is about learning the power of self-control and the importance of moderation.
Produced by TYA’s artistic director Hanna Benton, the show features the accomplished Bella Rudell as Pinkalicious and Owen Traas as Peter. Playing the roles of Mr. Pinkerton, Mrs. Pinkerton, and Alison are Ben DeTroye, Tegan Hermann, and Ellie Turcotte respectively.
The youth ensemble consists of Adelaide Milne, Brady Baker, A.J. Kaufmann, Aliyah Huerta, and Natalie Huerta.
Pinkalicious the Musical is being performed at the JMKAC Matrix at 1:30 pm on Saturday, May 4. Tickets may be purchased online at www.tyasheboygan.org. The performance run time is approximately 40 minutes.
