Ticket registration for 2020 Ryder Cup ends September 13
Registration for the opportunity to purchase individual tickets for next year’s 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits will close at 10:59 p.m. CST on Friday, September 13, 2019. Applications are then entered into the PGA of America’s Random Selection Process. To apply, visit RyderCup.com.
Once the process is complete in October of 2019, all applicants will be notified via email whether or not they have been randomly selected for the opportunity to purchase tickets.
“The Ryder Cup is one of the few sporting events in the world where the ticket demand requires a random selection process to give everyone a fair shot at witnessing sports history firsthand,” said 2020 Ryder Cup Director Jason Mengel in a news release. “We encourage everyone with interest in Ryder Cup tickets to fill out the registration form online, as the number of individual inquiries we’ve received about our Random Selection Process indicates record-setting demand. We wish all registrants the best of luck.”
The deadline for registering to volunteer for the event has ended, with about 30,000 people applying for 4,000 volunteer spots.
BizTimes Milwaukee quotes Kohler Co. CEO David Kohler as saying that the competition is expected to bring about 50,000 spectators per day to the course next September 25 to 27, with an estimated 70% of spectators coming from outside the United States. International media coverage will be around the clock, viewed by about 500 million households worldwide. The local economic impact is expected to be around $135 million.
