Successful seasons for Kohler boys and girls basketball

 Boys Basketball

The team finished 14-5 in the South Division of the Big East Conference and 19-6 overall. In the postseason the #2 seeded Bombers had a first round bye, defeated Howards Grove 58-56, and knocked off Southern Door 60-59 to claim the regional crown before losing to #1 seed Manitowoc Roncalli 58-45 in the sectional semifinal.

Senior Carter Gebler was a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection after averaging 20.8 points per game during the conference schedule (389 points, 6th best in the conference) and shooting 66% from the field (2nd in the conference). He was also accurate from the free throw line, hitting 74.6% of his attempts (8th best). Gebler’s worth to the team extended beyond scoring, however, as he was also a strong ball-handler and playmaker, dishing out 86 assists during the season, which was the second highest total for any player among the conference’s 14 teams.

Tyler Roeder, also a senior, earned Second Team All-Conference honors. He shot 63.5% from the field (3rd in the conference) and was especially proficient from 3-point range, where he made 20 of his 40 attempts, the third highest percentage among all qualifying players in the conference. He averaged 15.1 points per game, second on the team, and led the team in rebounding with 9.5 per game.

Another senior, Leo Fink, earned Honorable Mention. His 67 assists were eighth best in the conference. He scored 10.1 points per game, third on the team.

The team was coached by Ken Roeder and assisted by Kyle Gebler, Ryan Eigenberger, and C. Thompson.

Girls Basketball

The girls had a record of 11-8 in the Big East South Division and 13-11 overall. In the postseason the team was seeded #7 in its regional and won its first round game over #10 Algoma 41-36 before bowing out in the second round against #2 Mishicot 57-36.

Mallory Keller, a senior, was named to the Big East Conference First Team. She was second in the conference in scoring (347 points, 17.5 per game) and fourth in rebounding (157 total, 7.6 per game). Her best game may have been a 46-41 win over a good Saint Mary Catholic team in which she had 32 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Senior Payton Schueller received Honorable Mention. She was the team’s second leading scorer at 6.8 points per game.

Erin Farrell and Isabel O’Donnell finished 6th and 11th, respectively, among all players in the conference in assists.

Madeline Thomas was third on the team in scoring at 6.4 points per game, and Hailey Cole was second on the team in rebounding at 5.5 per game.

The team was coached by Pete Schueller and assisted by Jason Keller and Terry Jensen.
