Kohler seventh grader Simran Bhatia competed in the Annual ACUITY Chess Tournament on Saturday, February 24, 2018 along with several top middle school chess players from around the state. Simran won 4.5 out of 5 games winning the Individual 1st place Champions Trophy in her section.
Simran will next compete in the Annual U.S. National Girls Championship to be held in Chicago on April 20-22, 2018 where she will compete with top girl chess players from each of the 50 states. If she wins this tournament, she will qualify to represent Team USA in the upcoming World Youth Chess Championship to be held in Halkidiki, Greece in October, 2018.
Simran will also be competing in 119th Annual US OPEN Chess Championship, which will be held in July-August, 2018 (a 10-day tournament) in Madison, Wisconsin, where she will compete with top men and women chess players of all ages from around the U.S.
