Kohler, WI – The Kohler and Sheboygan County Christian High Schools’ “Shoot for A Cure: Coaches vs. Cancer Day” will be held on Friday, December 7 at Kohler High School in Kohler, to benefit the American Cancer Society, the official sponsor of more birthdays.
The girls’ and boys’ basketball games will raise funds to help support the Society’s efforts to help people in Sheboygan County stay well, get well, find cures and fight back.During “Shoot for A Cure: Coaches vs. Cancer Day,” the Kohler Bombers and Sheboygan County Christian Eagles will have a variety of items available to bid on during a game day silent auction, and there will also be several raffle baskets. A specialized event t-shirt will be worn by players and coaches during warm ups. Players and fans will have the opportunity to honor loved ones touched by cancer by leaving a message on a Wall of Hope or lighting a memorial luminary. Spectators will also have an opportunity to compete in halftime activities including a chuck-a-duck contest.Kohler Girls Basketball Coach Pete Schueller, said: “This event provides a tremendous opportunity for the student athletes and coaches to demonstrate their support for the work that is being done by the American Cancer Society to fight this disease. In addition to raising money, this event provides an opportunity to raise awareness and engage both of our school communities in this important cause. Cancer is something that has impacted all of us, either directly or indirectly at some level.”
In addition to raising lifesaving funds in support of the American Cancer Society’s mission to finish the fight against cancer, Kohler and Sheboygan County Christian High Schools’ players and students are learning how to make healthy decisions each and every day that can reduce their risk of cancer. Eating right, exercising, staying safe in the sun, and following the American Cancer Society’s recommended cancer screening guidelines are all ways people can reduce their cancer risk
