School field trip bus funding in jeopardy
Submitted by Kohler School Friends
Did you know that the Kohler School Friends Parent Teacher Organization pays the transportation costs for children in each grade to go on field trips? That commitment currently saves the parents of students in grades JK through 12 approximately $10,000 every year.
The major fundraiser for this support is the craft fair held in the fall at school. This is the 20th year of the fair and this year it happens on November 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We have a dedicated team that comes together to produce a spectacular event to fund the bus costs plus much more. Other money from past craft fairs have helped to purchase playground equipment, a laminator, and teacher wish list items that the school cannot fit into their normal operating budget. KSF also produces the school directory allowing parents to connect with each other. This helps to contribute to the great school community that we have in Kohler.
After many years chairing the craft fair, our current lead is stepping down to contribute her talents elsewhere. That leaves a fabulous opportunity for one or two other people to step forward and show their skills. Luckily, the details of the event are documented to make the next coordinator’s job that much easier.
Since we have a well-established craft fair, many of our crafters are excited to return the following year. They go so far as filling out their application and turning in their fee at the event for the following year. For that reason, we need to fill the coordinator position by October 29, 2018, so that we can guarantee those exhibitors a fair to return to in 2019.
If you are willing to help our schoolchildren and see if this opportunity is for you, please email Kohler School Friends at email@example.com. One of our board members will be happy to answer all of your questions.
