Pet owners, be aware of Village regulations
The Village of Kohler has restraining regulations for pets that help protect pets as well as the public. Numerous incidents involving unleashed dogs becoming aggressive or overly excited around other pets or people have taken place around Kohler in the past couple of years. Some of these incidents have caused injuries to pets and people.
The Village of Kohler ordinance requires that pets be kept on a leash when leaving your property. When on your property, unrestrained pets must be supervised and responsive to voice commands. Otherwise, the pet must be contained or restrained.
The Village ordinance as posted on the Village website at kohlervillage.org states: “Anyone owning or having charge, custody, care or control of any cat or dog shall keep the animal on their premises by personal and direct supervision, such as: voice command; keeping the cat/dog on an appropriate chain/tie no longer than 15 feet; or keeping the animal in an enclosed yard, this includes an underground electrical fence. When taking the cat or dog off premises, the animal must be kept in an appropriate enclosure, or restrained by a substantial leash or chain not exceeding six feet in length. Anyone owning or having control of any animal shall clean up any feces immediately and dispose of it in a sanitary manner.”
