By Matt Zavada, Kohler Athletic Director – Kohler High School would like to announce that Marty Harms has been appointed as the next head varsity volleyball coach. Coach Harms is excited to re-join the Kohler volleyball program after a one year hiatus, where he previously served as an assistant coach. Marty brings with him nine years of coaching experience and twenty-five years of competitive playing experience.
Marty’s volleyball journey started as a player on the University of Wisconsin-Madison Men’s Club Volleyball team, where he earned 2nd Team All-Big Ten Honors as a middle blocker. After college, Marty continued playing at the adult level, competing in multiple USA Volleyball National Championship tournaments at the AA, A, and BB levels.
Coach Harms believes that the character development of the athlete holds priority over the team record, but always strives to compete at the highest level attainable. Kohler Athletic Director Matt Zavada states that “Coach Harms brings a wealth of volleyball knowledge and experiences to the program. We are excited to have someone that will move this program forward, while developing a positive experience for our students.”
Marty lives in Kohler with his wife, Amy, and their 3 children. All 3 children are students in Kohler Public Schools.
In his free time, Marty owns and coaches at CrossFit Eastern Ridge and CrossFit Western Ridge, and is active in his church and the fitness community.
