The Kohler School Board has announced the resignation of Superintendent Quynh Trueblood effective July 31, 2020. The board said in a statement that it did not solicit her resignation, and are “appreciative of her eight years of service to the district and wish her well in her future endeavors.”

Kohler School Board President Jane Bishop stated during a phone call from The Kohler Villager that she has also resigned, citing conflict and differences among opposing groups within the school board, especially involving the business end of running the district. Bishop said she was shocked when she heard that Superintendent Trueblood was resigning, and decided she no longer wanted to serve on the board. Sharon Reilly will move into the role of School Board President.

Trueblood issued the following statement:

Farewell message from Quynh Trueblood

Dear Kohler community:

It has been an honor and privilege to serve the community as the superintendent of schools for the past eight years. This lifework has been supremely meaningful, challenging, and rewarding. I stand proud alongside the board, administration, and staff for the strong state of the district. It is undeniable: Kohler Public Schools is on top.

It is an extraordinary and challenging time. The district is in fine order in every core area. This is especially an advantage given the momentous event of reopening our schools during the pandemic. The administration and staff are the finest people who have proven to be capable, hard working, talented, and achieving. The numbers tell the story:

  • 91% satisfaction from the community
  • #1 public school district in the state
  • #1 public elementary school in the state
  • #1 public high school in the state
  • 99% of elementary school students feel teachers care about them
  • 99% of middle school students say school adults are kind to them
  • 96% of high school students feel safe at school

I am often asked, “How does Kohler schools do it?”
My answer, “Two things: good people working at the school and the community shows up for the children.”
It is a real feeling when I say, “The children of Kohler Schools are my pride and joy.”

Thank you for your trust in me.
Very Truly Yours,
Quynh D. Trueblood
