Kohler High School would like to announce that Nate
DePagter has been hired as the next Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. Nate becomes the thirteenth girls basketball coach in Kohler High School history, which began in 1974.
Nate started coaching basketball in 2009 as an assistant boys basketball coach at Southwestern high school. Since then, he has been a Head Girls basketball coach at New Holstein and Cedar Grove-Belgium. He has also coached middle school, freshman, JV girls, and JV boys basketball. Coaching basketball is just one of the sports he has coached over the years. Nate has also been a Head Girls Track and Field coach at Sheboygan South and Hartford as well as an assistant track coach at Southwestern and Cedar Grove-Belgium. He has also been a Head Boys Cross Country coach at Hartford and a JV baseball coach at Cedar Grove-Belgium.
Nate comes to Kohler High School from the White Lake School District, where he has served as a social studies teacher for the past two years. Coach Depagter will also be known as Mr. DePagter to several of Kohler’s students in the fall, as he has also been hired as a high school social studies teacher in the district. Kohler Athletic Director Matt Zavada states that “We are excited to have Nate join our staff at Kohler Schools. He has a versatile coaching background, an energetic attitude, and will be in our building every day of the school year with our student-athletes. Our hopes are that he will be able to build upon the recent successes of our girls program, and increase our numbers of girls that come out for basketball.”
Nate is married to his wife Jamie, who is a nurse, and they have two kids, Ryker (3 years old) and Ayla (One and a Half). They have a dog named Isley and two bunnies named Jackalope and Harley Quin. He grew up on a dairy farm in Oostburg, WI, and graduated from UW-Platteville. Coach Depagter stated, “I am excited for the opportunity to educate students in the field of social studies this fall at Kohler high school and look forward to taking over as the new head girls basketball coach.
“I look forward to meeting everyone soon.”
