The Kohler high school girls’ soccer team finished in third place out of nine teams in the Big East Conference for the 2019 season with a stellar record of 8 wins, 1 loss, and 3 ties.
In the Division 4 WIAA 2019 Girls Soccer Tournament held in late May and early June, the Blue Bombers won two regional games by a combined score of 10-0 to advance to the sectional semi-final where they upset unbeaten conference champions and #1 seeded Cedar Grove-Belgium 3-2 in overtime before finally falling 1-0 in a tough sectional final against Oostburg.
Samantha Renzelmann, a senior forward, and Cecelia Zielke, a senior defender, were named to the 14-player All-Big East Conference Girls’ First Team. Zielke was one of five players in the conference who were unanimous selections.
Erin Farrell, a junior midfielder, was named to the Second Team.
Senior midfielder Elly Udovich and junior midfielder Isabel O’Donnell earned Honorable Mention.
Lesley Cassidy coached the girls’ team, assisted by Ruzdi Hidri. The junior varsity team was coached by Kyle Quintell.
