July 4th fireworks launch site moved to arboretum

If you usually watch Kohler’s July 4th fireworks from the ravine, you will need to shift your focus slightly to the left this year as the launch site has been moved to the arboretum. This decision was made after the school’s AstroTurf football field received some damage from fireworks last summer. Please also be reminded that blankets are not allowed to be spread out on the ravine grass until dawn on July 4th.

Kohler’s annual July 4th Celebration at Ravine Park kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with concessions by the Kohler Bombers Boosters. Enjoy brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, ice cream, and candy. Beer will be sold by the Kohler Fire Department.

The traditional Sousa Concert, performed by the Kiel Municipal Band under the direction of Dr. Jon Meyer, begins at 8:00 p.m., followed by fireworks around 9:15 p.m. In the event of rain, the event will take place on July 5th.

Due to federal regulations, the arboretum will be off limits during the launching of fireworks. The walking paths within and adjacent to the arboretum will be closed. The perimeter of the explosives danger area will be taped off. Woodland Rd. (and the adjacent walking path) will be closed between Greenfield Drive and Forest Road just prior to and after the launching of the fireworks.

Be sure to use caution driving in the area, especially as the crowds disperse.
