October 5 accident in Kohler claims the life of a Sheboygan man
A one-vehicle accident on Highland Drive just south of the Woodlake Road intersection in Kohler took the life of 36-year-old Zachariah M. Diedrich of Sheboygan on Saturday, October 5.
According to a release from the Kohler Police Department, just before 8:15 p.m. a pickup truck driven by Diedrich was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on Highland Drive when it went over the curb and onto the center grass median striking a tree. Diedrich was declared deceased at the scene despite life-saving efforts. He was the sole occupant in the vehicle.
Extensive damage to the truck required additional resources at the scene, and according to scanner reports, both the southbound and northbound lanes of Highland Drive were closed until debris could be removed.
Excessive speed and intoxicant consumption are being investigated as possible contributing factors in the crash.
Assisting the Kohler Police Department at the scene were the Sheboygan Sheriff’s Office, Orange Cross Ambulance, Kohler Fire Department, Kohler Department of public Works, and the Sheboygan County Medical Examiner’s Office.
