Highland Drive accident Saturday night claims the life of a Sheboygan man
A one-vehicle crash on Highland Drive just south of the Woodlake Road intersection in Kohler Saturday night took the life of a Sheboygan man.
According to a release from the Kohler Police Department, on Saturday, October 5, 2019, just before 8:15 p.m., a pickup truck traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on Highland Drive went over the curb and onto the center grass median striking a tree. The sole occupant and operator of the vehicle, a 36-year-old City of Sheboygan man, was declared deceased at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
Extensive damage to the truck required additional resources at the scene, and according to scanner reports, both the southbound and northbound lanes of Highland Drive were closed until debris could be removed.
Excessive speed and intoxicant consumption are being investigated as possible contributing factors in the crash. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Assisting the Kohler Police Department at the scene were the Sheboygan Sheriff’s Office, Orange Cross Ambulance, Kohler Fire Department, Kohler Department of public Works, and the Sheboygan County Medical Examiner’s Office.
