Sheboygan County, WI – One of the objectives of the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) is to build partnerships with organizations to enhance service levels to the entrepreneurs in Sheboygan County.  The SCEDC has partnered with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay to assist with the Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster assistance response to coronavirus.

Governor Evers is seeking additional information from the SBA before declaring a statewide disaster.  The SCEDC/SBDC are assisting with tracking requests from small businesses that are, or could be, adversely affected by coronavirus.

If a Wisconsin disaster declaration is reached, Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) will become available for small businesses and not-for-profit entities.  These are direct loans from the SBA and not through lending partners.  Once a disaster declaration is in place, there will be more guidance by the SBA regarding how to apply for the EIDL.

“The SBA is strongly committed to providing the most effective and customer-focused response possible to support small businesses that have incurred substantial economic loss as a result of the outbreak,” stated SBA Administrator Jovita Carranz. “The Agency is working closely with Governors to make up to $2 million in targeted, low-interest disaster recovery loans available to any small business enterprise that has been severely impacted by the situation.”

SBA’s EIDL will offer up to $2 million in low interest loan assistance for a small business. The EIDLs can provide support to small businesses and help overcome temporary loss of revenue, and can be used to cover payroll, inventory, pay debt, or other expenses.
