Firefighters from around Sheboygan County were dispatched to a structure fire at Best Buy in Kohler Wednesday night, March 13.
At around 10:39 p.m., the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received a call from an alarm company as well as a witness report of smoke coming from the Best Buy store at Deer Trace Shopping Center in Kohler.
According to a release from the Kohler Police Department, Kohler police officers and a deputy from the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately to the scene and confirmed that smoke was coming through the roof, and that the windows were blackened by smoke and soot. The Kohler Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter and made entry into the building, finding an active working fire. Several other area fire departments were called to assist.
The fire was was contained by 12:35 a.m., with all units clearing the scene at 2:35 a.m.
No injuries were reported from the fire.
A fire investigation team was called to the scene. The cause of the fire is not suspected to be criminal in nature at this time.
A fire cleanup team was at the store this morning. It’s unknown when the store will be reopened to customers.
Responding to the fire were Village of Kohler, City of Sheboygan Falls, Town of Sheboygan Falls, Town of Wilson, Orange Cross, Haven, Town of Sheboygan, Oostburg Fire, Sheboygan County Fire Investigation Unit, and Howards Grove.
