The Kohler School Board appointed and welcomed Dr. Jane Bishop as a returning member on Monday, October 9. Dr. Bishop fills the board vacancy up to the April election in 2018. Dr. Bishop served on the Kohler School Board from 2003-2012 and as President from 2008-12. During her tenure, she is proud to have participated in the 2004 extensive building addition, hired three superintendents, and moved curriculum and technology to the forefront. Additionally, Dr. Bishop’s service includes actively leading at St. John the Evangelical Parish, Kohler Kiwanis, Manitou Girl Scouts, and Higher Learning Commission’s Academic Quality Improvement Program.
Dr. Bishop has lived in Kohler for 27 years. She is a proud mother of three accomplished Kohler graduates. Dr. Bishop has a long and strong history of service and deep roots in education. She holds a doctoral degree in educational policy and leadership with a minor in curriculum and instruction; a master’s degree in public administration with minor in health care management; and a bachelor’s degree in medical technology. During her illustrious career in education, Dr. Bishop has taught education courses, chaired programs, and managed enrollment for quality and innovation in higher education. When asked about her renewed interested in serving on the School Board, she genuinely shared, “I want to provide some stability on the Board; to continue excellence in education at the Kohler School District; to provide meaningful, applied learning for all students and continue to effectively measure learning and make improvements based the measurements.”
Dr. Bishop is a no-nonsense and high accountability leader for Kohler Schools. She is a gifted humorist and community servant who loves to crochet, watch pro and college football.
