The Kohler Blue Bombers boys soccer team celebrated the opening of the newly renovated Ebben Field last Thursday with a big win for the regional semi-final over the Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets.
Jack Kohler opened the scoring for the Bombers early in the first half. The Rockets kept things close through most of the first half, before the Bombers went full throttle scoring seven more goals for a final score of 8-0.
Nick Wandschneider finished the evening with a hat trick. Jack Kohler added another goal. Andrew Maglio had two goals and Conner Cassidy had one. Joe Kay had three assists on the night. Jack Kohler, Carter Gebler, and Sam Biznek each had one.
Two days later, on Saturday night, the Bombers defeated Howards Grove 1-0 securing their first regional championship since 2011. After a scoreless first half, Nick Wandschnider scored the game-winner with an assist from Joe Kay.
The Bombers move on to sectional play at home this Thursday against Brookfield Academy at 7 p.m. at Ebben Field. Admission is $5.
