Bomber Boosters hope to make a difference in Kohler school athletics
Submitted by the Kohler Athletic Bomber Boosters – The Kohler Athletic Bomber Boosters (KABB) introduced themselves to the Village during the 4th of July celebration in the bowl. The parent-led athletic booster club formed over the last year and is ready to make a difference for Kohler High School in 2019.
Kohler has been without a booster club since the previous version disbanded in 2016. Rosa Hartman, the mother of incoming junior Isaac Hartman, took over as president during the 2018-2019 school year. She has been working feverishly to develop a functioning organization that can help build a better future for Kohler athletics.
Rosa’s team includes Secretary Erika Cunliff-Owen, Treasurer Jim Rummel, and Mike and Mary Krall who have handled purchasing for the group. Dedicated parents have stepped up to represent Cross Country and Baseball. The club requires a parent representative from each sport. It is also actively seeking a vice president and has several sub-committee chair posts available. Please contact Rosa if you are interested in any of these roles.
The 4th of July festivities offered a great opportunity to reveal the new name and show where the organization can fit into the community. Parents and student-athletes helped run the concession tent as burgers, brats, and refreshments were provided throughout the evening.
The club’s focus for the next year is developing a volunteer member base, a functioning organization, and a sustainable financial picture. The next six months are critical, and help is needed all around.
“Volunteers are the key to our sustainability. We need KABB volunteers to help support and drive activities throughout the year. We need parent and student volunteers during the upcoming sports seasons to help run concessions and support all of Kohler’s varsity teams throughout the year,” said Rosa following the cookout.
Expect to see more from the Boosters over the coming months. KABB is working with coaches to have concessions available during different sporting activities. They will also be selling the family passes that can be used for entry to any Big East conference event in the coming year. Several fundraisers are also planned for the coming school year – including bringing back the Kohler Klassic! This 5k run has been a Kohler tradition following the school year and the club is very excited to host this activity.
Anyone in the community is welcomed to join KABB. If you are the parent of a high school athlete, we strongly encourage you to join. Come to one or two meetings and see what it is all about. Meetings are happening every third Wednesday of the month in the Kohler Library at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be August 21. Follow the KABB on Facebook (Kohler Athletic Bomber Boosters) or contact the school for additional information.
