Above & Beyond Children’s Museum celebrates 25 years – Kohler native one of its founders
Above & Beyond Children’s Museum, located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.
Twenty-five years ago, Dorothy Block, Darryl Gumm, Betty Potter, Bonnie Schmitz, Nina Stapel and Gary Zimmermann founded the museum. Gumm is a 1969 graduate of Kohler High School.
Back in the early days, the Kohler PTA built and donated an exhibit to the museum, consisting of two huge whisper dishes, according to Gumm.
Since its inception, Above & Beyond has become a destination for children and families to engage in fun-filled exploration, discovery and learning. It is also a popular place to for people of all ages to have a birthday party. In the past quarter century, Above & Beyond has had visitors from all over the world and has received significant financial support from the Greater Sheboygan County community as well as from donors throughout the United States.
